The Formative Tool for Assessment by Emily Schmitz
Looking for a space to assess your students at any grade, using any device, and at any content area? Look no further! In this session, we will explore the formative app and how it allows you to meaningfully assess your students based on the objectives of your lesson. This app gives you the ability to give instant, live feedback as your students work through a formative assessment you have created. We will discuss how the app works, what features it has to offer, and see an example lesson from a 5th grade math classroom. |

Assessment Goes Digital by Megan Radke & Brianne Kashak
In this session we will be overviewing formative assessment tools that can be accessed and used online through a computer. We will first begin our session with diving into our personal favorite formative assessment tools and exploring how those can look on both the end of the teacher and student. We will show how to navigate these tools by creating a lesson/assessment and modeling how students can access it and see their feedback. We will break down our process of designing these formative assessment tools to show the how to set up an assessment on each site. After we have done a more in-depth exploration with three formative assessment tools, we will provide a list of alternative formative assessment tools that lays out a brief description of what the tool is and how it works. This will allow time for personal exploration. |

Assessing Digital Writing by Grace Binder & Lindsay Stoetzel
In this closing session, we will look at the frameworks and tools presented throughout the day and think about the logistics for assessment implementation in your classroom. Based off of research and work done by Troy Hicks and the National Writing Project, we will look at a guiding framework for assessing digital literacies. Finally, we will engage in a hands-on workshop to reflect, discuss, and assess real student projects using the tools provided. You will be able to take this experience and the tools back to your own classrooms to reflect on your own design and feedback on digital assessments. Visit the presentation.
